Osun APC war: From critic to follower – Aregbesola tows Amosun’s political path

Though Aregbesola is yet to be linked to another political party, the former Governor has publicly announced the breaking of APC into two in Osun state

The battle for the control of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken another dimension as growing speculations have pointed that the Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola is planning to float a parallel party ahead of the state gubernatorial election this year.

Aregbesola is currently at head-on battle with the state incumbent governor Gboyega Oyetola over control of the Osun State chapter of the ruling APC.

One of the cutting claims emerging on the political circle is that Interior Minister is now a follower of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, according to societynow.ng.

According to claims quoted, Aregbesola can now be described as “Follower of the ways of Amosun”

It was gathered that this claim has roots in the assertion that the 64year old Minister has adopted the same political manoeuvres he lashed Amosun for pre- 2019 election in Ogun State.

The fight by Amosun – who is a year younger than Aregbesola – as Governor of Ogun state to retain control of his political party and determine candidates for the 2019 election resulted in parallel structures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Amosun allegedly refused all “entreaties” in an all-out attempt to achieve his heart desires and Aregbesola who was the Governor of Osun State at the time was vociferous in kicking against Amosun’s actions.

This was especially when Amosun planted his loyalists in another political party – Allied People’s Movement (APM) – to contest the 2015 general election.

Presently, Aregbesola has adopted the tactics he criticized Amosun for in 2015.

Though he is yet to be linked to another political party, the former Governor has publicly announced the breaking of APC into two in Osun state.

The Minister is engulfed in a supremacy war with his successor Gboyega Oyetola.

“And like Amosun was accused of refusing entreaties for peace in 2015, Aregbesola is facing the same and related allegations in 2022, so he has turned from critic to follower by adopting some of the ways of Amosun” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

There are already speculations on whether or not the minister would go the whole haul in towing Amosun’s path regarding helping loyalists actualize their ambitions on another political platform – but his hardcore supporters insist there is no chance of that happening.

Findings revealed that creating parallel party structures in a bid to achieve political objectives by leaders is not novel to Amosun, neither is the planting of loyalists in another political party to actualize their ambitions – even in Ogun State, societynow.ng report stated.

“In Amosun’s domain Daniel(Olugbenga Justice) as outgoing Governor of Ogun state did both in a failed bid to outfox Obasanjo (Olusegun) who was President,” a source was quoted.

Daniel who governed Ogun state from29 May 2003 to 29 May 2011 as chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is now a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). (SocietyNow NG)
