The political stage is getting set as the election year draws near. Most contenders and pretenders are gearing up for the souls of the electorates to achieve their various ambitions
In Ogun State, Ado-odo/Ota local government, South West Nigeria, an arena of intense political activities is about to be unfolded.
It is a battle of ‘winner takes all’ in the ruling Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC)
Emerging detail shows a classic battle between two young but powerful politicians is gradually setting up as they are both ready to lock horns for the sole APC Federal House of Representatives ticket of the local government.
Both became prominent after the historic victory in the 2011 election that swept aside powerful and the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
Man-like-god, Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s political godson and former chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota local government, Rotimi Rahmon is one of the most powerful politicians in Ogun State and a strong contender for the APC Federal House of Representatives ticket.
“He is the eagle-eye of the governor in the state,” a source said.
To substantiate the eagle-eye tag, the source informed that Governor Amosun made Mr Rahmon the chairman of the Local Government Service Commission immediately after his tenure as a council boss.
Information made available revealed “the position was handed over to him to ensure the governor’s political structure remains intact across the 20 local governments in the state. He has powerful influence and remains the heartbeat of the governor’s political lifeline.”
Newsheadline247 understands Mr Rahmon is keenly interested in becoming a federal lawmaker come 2019 and he is ready with determination and powerful intensity to achieve this ambition.
In the other corner is another young and powerful grassroot politician, Hon. Nurudeen Akinpelu Aina, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly since 2011.
It was gathered that Hon. Aina may not be as powerful as Mr Rahmon in the state but the lawyer turned politician is a core grassroots politician with massive followership in the local government.
Hon. Aina who is deeply passionate in stepping further in his political career is also interested in moving up from state to federal lawmaker.
‘Legacy’ as fondly called by his supporters is said to be ready with huge determination in achieving his political desire. “He is a lawmaker with unprecedented records of astonishing representation.” The source added
