As Nigeria marks the 20th memorial anniversary of the late Chief (Mrs.) Stella Obasanjo, former First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, has paid a moving tribute celebrating her life of grace, courage, and purposeful service.

In an emotional letter addressed to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR) and personally signed by the former Ogun State Governor, Daniel described the late First Lady as “a woman of rare grace, courage, and devotion” whose legacy remains deeply etched in the nation’s memory.

“Her life remains a shining example of purposeful service and enduring love, both to the Obasanjo family and to our great nation,” Senator Daniel wrote.

The letter, dated October 20, 2025, was titled “Forever in Our Hearts” — a phrase that captures the depth of national affection for the late Mrs. Obasanjo, who passed away in October 2005.

Reflecting on her impact, Daniel praised Stella Obasanjo’s quiet strength and humanitarian spirit, noting that her compassion transformed countless lives across Nigeria.

He further described her as a symbol of resilience and selfless service, whose legacy continues to guide those striving for “a better, more compassionate Nigeria.”

Addressing Chief Obasanjo directly, the Senator extended heartfelt solidarity, recognising the enduring void left by the late First Lady’s passing two decades ago.

“May this 20th memorial bring renewed strength, peace, and gratitude for a life beautifully lived and forever remembered,” Daniel wrote.
“Sir, please accept my deepest respect and heartfelt solidarity as you continue to honour her remarkable memory.”

Signed in his capacity as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy and former Governor of Ogun State, Daniel’s message underscored not only his personal bond with the Obasanjo family but also the deep reverence many Nigerians still hold for Stella Obasanjo’s legacy of compassion, style, and patriotism.
