I have watched with a great dismay and displeasure the new sets of commissioners appointed by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
For the umpteenth time, this appointment does not reflect the true reality of what major stakeholders want, especially in Ado-Odo/Ota local government.
The appointment was a heavy slap on the good people of Ado-Odo Ota in its entirety.
It’s quite unjust and unfair that our local government, which gave the Governor a whooping 39,006 votes, the highest in all LGAs in the last gubernatorial election, is treated with a total disregard.
This is my point, I am not saying that the Governor should not make an appointment based on merit, but certain considerations have to be given to what we brought to the table in the last election.
My position is that one commissioner from Ado-Odo Ota LG is not enough, and it’s a total disrespect to party loyalists and stakeholders who worked so hard to ensure victory in the last election.
While we will continue to support the Governor in his bid to develop the state, we seek a fairly distribution of appointments based on the truism of what our local government has been able to deliver.
Yorùbá says in their wisdom, yini yini keni seemi, Eni to ba dupe ore ana,yoo gbami, this simply means appreciation begats more support.
If the Governor continues to do this, I am afraid that he will create a huge crack on the wall of party structure, and this will not mean well for the Party.
I hope and believe that the Governor will review his decision and do the needful as a way to ensure fair delivery of democracy dividends across all board.
