Tunji Akinosi Dream Team, a football club owned by Ogun State politician, Tunji Akinosi, on Wednesday gallantly lost to Expected FC in the 2022 final of the Keshington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation (KAAF) U-18 football tournament in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
In the all-round entertaining final encounter at the Gateway International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, the Tunji Akinosi DT which many soccer fans had earlier tipped to win the coveted Adebutu’s trophy surprisingly lost 0-3 to their opponent in the final matchday.
Hon Tunji Akinosi, an astute politician from Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state is the proprietor of the team. He is presently a frontline contender for the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency seat at the Federal House of Representatives in the forthcoming 2023 general elections. He is contesting under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In his reaction after his team lost in the final match, the two-time commissioner said Tunji Akionsi DT may have lost the final match but technically won the game. “Our team, Tunji Akinosi DT played against Expected FC at the Keshington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation (KAAF) U-18 final but we lost to the opponent making our team the 1st runner-up for the competition.”
He further commended the team for their doggedness throughout the duration of the pulsating encounter.
“I must commend our team, the young promising footballers for making us proud from the beginning of the tournament to the end. I must specially appreciate the coach, Coach Akinlawon Akinola, for the good works he did. Also, I congratulate Mubarak Alade, from Tunji Akinosi DT who was awarded the Best Player of the tournament and signed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). It was a great feat attained.
“Meanwhile, this is just the beginning. We hope to do more in Sports Development for Ado Odo/Ota as it is part of our vision for the federal constituency,” he said.
