Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Calls on Youths to Shun Crime, Drug Abuse, Other Societal Ills

Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, Chairman of Ado Odo Ota Local Government, has called on youths in the council area and beyond to reject societal vices such as crime, corruption, and drug abuse, encouraging them instead to embrace positive values and actions.

The appeal came during a recent visit by the Ota Youth Assembly executives to his office at the Council Secretariat.

The chairman reiterated his dedication to fostering an environment that supports youth development and empowerment, aiming to curb unemployment and illegal activities.

He commended the Ota Youth Assembly for their forward-thinking ideas and development plans, pledging collaboration to help realize their objectives. He also encouraged the group to partner with other youth organizations to drive progress for the benefit of Ado Odo Ota’s youth and residents.

Comrade Prince Adefolarin Adeniyi Ojugbele, President of the Ota Youth Assembly, thanked the chairman for his warm reception and wise counsel. He explained that the assembly, representing Ota’s four quarters—Otun, Osi, Oruba, and Ijana—was founded to advance youth and community development.

Outlining the group’s initiatives, he highlighted programs focused on youth empowerment, community improvement, governance participation, economic opportunities, youth education, and technology access. Key projects include establishing an ICT center, an e-library, and securing an administrative vehicle.
