Ogun State House of Assembly member, Hon. Nurudeen Akinpelu Aina has declared that he never stepped down for any aspirant following talks about his withdrawal from the race for the ticket of House of Representatives of the Ado-odo/Otta federal constituency.

The two-term lawmaker in the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ota State constituency stated this on his Facebook account on Sunday.

He said he has not withdrawn from the race in spite of series of threats and intimidation

Aina urged all stakeholders involved to stop misleading the public with unfounded rumour adding that leaders of the party should be allowed to do their job

“In view of the latest development on the rumours going round the town that I have “stepped down” for an aspirant in the run-up for the ticket of our great party APC for House of Representatives, Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Consistency in Ogun State. I hereby make a categorical statement that I Hon. (Barr.) Nurudeen Akinpelu Aina never stepped down for any aspirant

“Not minding the series of threats, intimidation, harassment, and attacks suffered by myself and supporters as witnessed across the State,” Aina stated.

He said “Nor did any of the other 3 aspirants that equally purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms like myself namely – Chief Oluwasesan Fagbayi, Comrade Jimoh Rotimi Rahmon and Prince Kazeem Owolabi Aina in the race stepped down for each other when we were called upon for such at the initial stage and up till this moment (11:18 pm, 14th Oct 2018)

“Hence I humbly urge all stakeholders involved to please stop heating up the polity in order not to misinform or mislead the public as it is in the governorship race.

“I urge everyone involved to please allow the Leaders of our great party APC to do their job as the ball is now in their court and eventually, I believe someone will emerge as the candidate of our Party since it’s not a do or die affair as some people have taken it. APC – Change!”
