A senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Rafiu Ibrahim says ‘Nigeria is under siege’ following blockade of the entrance to the National Assembly complex by security operatives.

He was the first to arrive at the National Assembly early Tuesday morning among the senators.

The senator was reportedly shocked seeing the DSS barricaded the main entrance gate which also prevented staff from gaining entrance into the complex.

Senator Ibrahim said; “We got here this morning to go into our office as usual; I work very early. During recess, we do committee works and our own writings. I’m writing a book, so I go in there almost every day.

“We got here and DSS has taken over all the gates, all entrances to the National Assembly and they said it’s an order from above. We asked them why they said there is no reason. As it is today, it means Nigeria is under siege.”

The DSS operatives backed by men of the Nigerian Police were seen on Tuesday morning at the gate of the assembly, barricading the two gates with two Sports Utility Trucks and standing firmly, guns in hand.
