Ayeni asserted that Alagwu’s daughter should not bear his family name on her passport due to the absence of a recognized familial bond between them

Nigerian businessman, Tunde Ayeni, has been caught up in a complicated paternity dispute with his former mistress, a lawyer based in Abuja named Adaobi Alagwu.

In his efforts to completely disconnect himself from the lingering paternity mess, Ayeni has written to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in order to request that any international passport containing his name which is presented by Ms. Alagwu and her child be deemed invalid.

In a formal notice sent through his legal representative, Dele Adesina, Ayeni asserted that Alagwu’s daughter should not bear his family name on her passport due to the absence of a recognized familial bond between them.

This comes after Ayeni publicly refuted claims of fathering a child with Alagwu, who is known for her involvement in the 2014 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant.

Ayeni’s denial of paternity, now in its third instance, follows previous statements issued in March and August 2023.

The latter denial coincided with revelations made by Ayeni’s wife, Abiola Ayeni, regarding the infidelity scandal that had strained their 31-year marriage.

Despite Alagwu’s insistence on Ayeni’s paternity of her child, he has firmly rejected any association with her or the child carrying his name.

In a recent communication from Ayeni’s legal team to Alagwu, they applauded Ayeni for standing up against a recurring issue faced by affluent individuals.

The letter to Alagwu emphasized Ayeni’s continued denial of fatherhood and highlighted Alagwu’s actions, including unauthorized entry into Ayeni’s property and claims regarding their alleged relationship.

They urged Alagwu to seek a more amicable resolution with Ayeni’s family and emphasized that any past gestures of goodwill towards her had been retracted.

Ayeni, a prominent figure in Nigerian business circles, holds various board positions in companies across the country. Conversely, Alagwu serves as the Managing Partner at Airbridge Solicitors & Advisory Services, a law firm based in Abuja.
