Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo edged closer to football immortality, netting twice to reach 967 career goals in a commanding 5–2 win over Al-Najma in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday.
Making his return from a month-long hamstring injury, Ronaldo wasted no time leaving his mark, scoring a crucial penalty and a second goal after halftime to seal the victory, according to Fabrizio Romano’s X post.
Despite Al-Najma’s shocking early lead, the hosts responded just before the break with goals from Sadio Mane and Abdullah Al Hamdan, turning the game in their favor. Ronaldo then took charge in the second half, restoring Al-Nassr’s lead with a composed penalty in the 56th minute and later adding his second to secure the emphatic win. Mane also added a second goal, completing the scoring for the league leaders.
The victory extended Al-Nassr’s winning streak to 13 consecutive league matches, keeping them firmly atop the table and widening the gap over rivals Al-Hilal. With Ronaldo’s tally now at 967, the legendary forward is steadily closing in on the historic 1,000-goal milestone, further solidifying his status as one of football’s greatest goal scorers.
