Former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun’ s alleged attempt to pull in his successor, Governor Dapo Abiodun to the allegation of stockpiling of Arms may have failed after all.
Amosun, in a revealing reports by the Premium Times NG, had in few hours to the end of his reign as governor of the state contacted the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama and confessed that he had thousands of arms and millions of ammunition in store at a secret armoury in Government House, and that he had decided to hand them over to the police.
But while denying the reports which sparked off reactions and knocks from all angles, the embattled former governor now a Senator of the Federal Republic pointed at Governor Abiodun, saying he was one of the suppliers of the controversial Arms he was alleged to have hoarded illegally.
Rotimi Durojaiye, Amosun’s spokesperson, in the statement named Abiodun as the supplier of the Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) listed in the controversial weapons.
Amosun, while reacting to the revealing reports denting his image, said Abiodun supplied the arms in 2012.
But for foresight, governor Abiodun would have faced a lot of heat on the streets over the Arms scandal reports denting the image of his successor, Sen. Amosun.
The allegation, however, didn’t fly because governor Abiodun was a step ahead of Amosun in the raging controversy, reports societynow.ng
Gathered that in the build-up to the heated election that produced Abiodun as the governor of Ogun state, his handlers used the arms purchased a major campaign point.
‘’I remember that Tunji Egbetokun who campaigned for Abiodun started the campaign.
‘’He was severally on the radio talking about how Abiodun is so passionate about security that bothered by the spare of insecurity that rocked Ogun state when Amosun became Governor, Abiodun delivered Armored Personnel Carriers to help protect persons and properties at no profit and didn’t push for payment immediately’’ societynow.ng quoted a source.

Like the men who saw tomorrow, Governor Abiodun campaign handlers had greatly leveraged on the positives of this slant far and wide during the campaign ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election.
‘’so when Amosun mentioned it and attempted to use it to drag Abiodun into his raging and damaging weapons stockpiling controversy, it didn’t fly’’- a source told the online news platform.
Multiple sources disclose that many see the attempt by Amosun as the continuation of the bad politics that saw him fiercely oppose Abiodun from becoming his successor while backing the candidate of another party.
