The house of Nigerian former President Olusegun Obasanjo located at Ita eko area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital was gutted by fire on Wednesday night.
The fire incident which was reportedly caused by power surge around 10:00 pm was also confirmed by the Ogun State Director of Fire Service, Fatai Adefala.
Adefala informed that the fire only razed a store and “not the main building in the former president’s compound.” He further said the agency succeeded in putting out the fire after it swiftly responded to a distress call.

It was gathered that residents and sympathizers trooped out to assist domestic workers in the house to put out the fire before the arrival of the fire service.
