Gbenga Daniel Celebrates Former Ogun First Lady, Lucia Onabanjo, at 100 — “A Century of Grace and God’s Faithfulness”

Former Governor of Ogun State and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population, Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has celebrated the former First Lady of Ogun State, Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, as she marks her 100th birthday, describing her life as a “century of grace, wisdom, and divine favour.”

In a heartfelt congratulatory letter addressed to the centenarian, Daniel lauded the widow of the late Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, former Governor of Ogun State, for her remarkable journey of faith and resilience that continues to inspire generations.

“It is with immense joy and heartfelt admiration that I join your family and well-wishers in celebrating you on your glorious 100th birthday,” Daniel wrote. “A century of grace, wisdom, and divine favour is no small feat; it is a rare blessing and a living testimony of God’s enduring faithfulness.”

The distinguished senator praised Mama Onabanjo as a symbol of virtue and quiet strength whose life complemented the towering legacy of her late husband, a revered leader whose name remains indelibly written in Ogun’s history.

Describing her centenary as “a triumph of grace and a call for gratitude,” Daniel said the former First Lady’s remarkable story embodies humility, compassion, and purposeful living — values he said the younger generation must emulate.

“Your amazing and remarkable journey inspires generations,” he continued. “It is a reminder that purposeful living, anchored in faith, humility, and compassion, yields a legacy that time cannot erase.”

The senator, who governed Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, prayed for Mama Onabanjo’s continued peace, divine health, and abiding joy, expressing hope that her story will keep inspiring others.

“May the Lord’s light continue to shine upon you and your children, and may your story of faith forever inspire those who walk the path of service and devotion,” he concluded.
