Nigeria Customs Hits ₦12.38bn Revenue Milestone at Ibeto Seaport in First Half-Year of Operations

The newly established Ibeto Seaport and Terminals Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Port Harcourt has hit an impressive milestone, generating a total of ₦12,382,397,531.62 in revenue within its first full six months—from July to December 2025.

Announced in a press release signed on January 27, 2026, by Command Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent of Customs Tangwa Emmanuel on behalf of Customs Area Controller (CAC) Comptroller Usman Yahaya, the achievement signals a promising launch for the Command, aligned with national economic goals.

“This performance represents a bold and promising start for the Ibeto Seaport and Terminals Command. It reflects deliberate reforms, institutional discipline and our clear operational focus in line with national economic objectives,” Comptroller Yahaya said.

The CAC credited the success to the visionary leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi and the seamless rollout of the home-grown Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), popularly called B’Odogwu. This digital platform has boosted transparency, sped up cargo clearance, and strengthened accountability in revenue collection.

“With the effective deployment of the B’Odogwu system, we have enhanced transparency and efficiency in our operations. As we move into 2026, our priority remains deepening trade facilitation while ensuring strict compliance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other extant regulations,” Yahaya added.

He praised compliant port users, importers, exporters, freight forwarders, and licensed customs agents for their cooperation, while urging all stakeholders to adhere fully to the NCS Act 2023. The CAC also commended officers for their dedication and assured a supportive work environment that fosters productivity and integrity.

Guided by the Comptroller-General’s core policy tripod of collaboration, consolidation, and innovation, the Command plans to intensify stakeholder engagement for sustained revenue growth and efficient trade.

Comptroller Yahaya extended special appreciation to High Chief Cletus Ibeto CON, Chairman of Ibeto Group of Companies, for his pivotal support during the Command’s early days, calling for even stronger partnerships ahead.

Beyond revenue, the Command remains vigilant against smuggling and revenue leakages. Strategic alliances forged in 2025 with agencies like the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, and NAFDAC have enhanced intelligence sharing and joint enforcement.

Describing 2025 as a “foundation-laying period,” the CAC said 2026 will emphasize consolidating achievements, refining processes, and advancing trade facilitation per global standards.

In his New Year message, Yahaya reaffirmed the team’s determination to exceed current benchmarks through continued teamwork and support from the Comptroller-General, urging officers and stakeholders to sustain full cooperation as the Command charges into 2026 with renewed vigor. Read More
