Legendary Nigerian musician Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, aged 83 has publicly debunked false reports of his death.
The rumors, which spread rapidly across social media on Monday, prompted tributes from fans under the mistaken belief that the music icon had passed away.
In a video released Tuesday morning, Obey-Fabiyi addressed the misinformation with a musical performance blending English, Yoruba, and Pidgin English.
He sang, “Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi. Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk,” directly confronting the false claims.
Following the song, he issued a clear statement: “It is fake news that started a few hours ago claiming that I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on to glory. It is a lie. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”
