“The statement issued yesterday by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, Hon Commissioner for Information and Strategy, remains the position of government. “

The Lagos State government has reacted to rumours of the appointment of Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a MC Oluomo, as the General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee saying “there’s no such appointment.”

The Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, who made this known in a statement on Friday added that the suspension of the operation of the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the state remains the position of the government.

The state government had earlier suspended the operations of the state chapter of the NURTW following a face-off between its Chairman, MC Oluomo and the National Chairman of the Union, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa.

Following the suspension of the NURTW in the state, reports emerged that MC Oluomo has been appointed as the State Transportation Parks and Garages Management Committee.

Akosile, in clarifying the report, said the position of the government has not changed from details of a statement issued yesterday by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, announcing the suspension of activities of NURTW in all parks and garages in the State.

He said: “Please disregard post(s) claiming that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed suspended Chairman of NURTW, MC Oluomo as GM, Lagos Transport Parks and garages committee. There’s no such appointment.

“The statement issued yesterday by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, Hon Commissioner for Information and Strategy, remains the position of government. “
