Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has expressed grief over the passing of Olanrewaju Adepoju, a prominent Yoruba poet and activist.
The activist, who was also an author and writer, died on Sunday.
Governor Makinde, in a condolence message released on Monday, described the late Adepoju as a significant figure in Oyo’s entertainment industry.
The Governor noted that the deceased used his talents through music, poems, songs and artistic works to correct social vices across the country while he was alive.
“I express my deep condolences to the family of Pa Olanrewaju Adepoju, the renowned social crusader, who used poetry and music to correct social ills.
“Baba Olanrewaju Adepoju was a great ambassador of the Pacesetter State, who flew the flag of the state as a social crusader and made a huge impact on the society.
“My prayer is that God grants repose to his soul and protects the family he left behind.”
Olanrewaju Adepoju, a renowned ewi exponent, who hailed from Ibadan, died in his home at the age of 81.
