Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed has been appointed in acting capacity to take over from the former minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun who resigned on Friday over NYSC forged certificate scandal.
Ahmed like Adeosun holds a degree in accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a masters in business administration from Ogun State University, home state of Kemi Adeosun.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday appointed Ahmed as to oversee the ministry of finance following the resignation of Adeosun over the NYSC certificate issue.
It was gathered that Ahmed will hold the position only on a temporary basis until the national assembly reconvenes when the president will send a replacement for senate screening.
Zainab Ahmed is said to be the daughter of Yahaya Hamza, the foster father of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state.
Hamza, who died in August 2015, was once permanent secretary in the federal ministry of education and secretary to the government of Kaduna state.
Ahmed, who once worked with Mtel when Pentascope ran the mobile home arm of Nitel under management contract, was until her appointment as minister of state for budget and planning the executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), the extractive sector watchdog.
