‘Money and fame will not change me…’ – Sadio Mane’s 18-year-old wife, Aisha Tamba says
The couple tied the knot in the Senegalese capital of Dakar a week ago, with the news of their marriage breaking on Tuesday. While Mane is currently earning £650,000 ($828,000)-a-week alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, Tamba is used to a far more modest lifestyle.
The Daily Mail reports that the 18-year-old lives in a house in Dakar containing up to 30 relatives at a time. But despite her life imminently changing for the better, Tamba insists she will stay true to herself.
Speaking to The Daily Mail via a relative, she said on the change: “I am looking forward to my new life and I know that it will be very different. But I do not feel any pressure because Sadio’s fame and money will not change me. This is not what I’m interested in. I will remain a humble person committed to my faith.
“I’m not used to having so much attention on me because we are a very private family. We don’t like to show off and speak about our personal lives. I am a very down to earth person, this is how I was raised, and nothing will be different just because of this marriage. But I’m very honoured to now be Mrs Mane.”
While Tamba stresses that being with Mane won’t change her, the couple has barely spent any time together since the ceremony.
The Al-Nassr forward is currently in the Ivory Coast to defence his nation’s AFCON crown. But Tamba has commitments of her own, as her father revealed the pair’s honeymoon plans are on hold until she finishes her exams. She recently returned to her school to a raucous reception from her fellow students.
The Mail continues that Mane and Tamba’s plans, after her school exams, is for her to join the ex-Liverpool forward in Saudi Arabia. For the 31-year-old, his continental defence begins against Gambia on Monday.
