Movie in the Park has announced a special Career Day edition scheduled for May 1, in celebration of International Workers’ Day, offering Nigerian workers a chance to relax and unwind.
The organiser, Ihechi Opara, said the edition—powered by Campari—is designed to appreciate the dedication and sacrifices of the workforce by creating a refreshing and entertaining atmosphere.
“This edition, as the name ‘career’ implies, is a day to celebrate workers in the country. There is a need for them to relax, enjoy the atmosphere and unwind while taking a break from work,” Opara said.
The announcement follows the success of the 2026 national tour kickoff, which began with a Valentine’s Day edition on February 14 at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos, drawing over 3,000 attendees.
A major highlight of the event was the Nigerian premiere of Once Upon a Honeymoon, directed by Diane Russet, which set the tone for a celebration of love, friendship, and community.
The Valentine edition also featured generous giveaways, with three couples winning N1 million each, the best-dressed guest receiving N200,000, and five attendees going home with N250,000 apiece.
The night concluded with a lively after-party featuring music, drinks, and R&B performances that kept guests entertained into the late hours.
Reflecting on the success, Opara described the event as a rewarding experience that underscores the growing appeal of the initiative.
“Seeing thousands of people come together to share a film, laugh, win prizes, and create memories reminded us why we started this platform,” he said.
He added that the Lagos edition sets the tone for a nationwide expansion, with the next stop scheduled for Enugu as the initiative continues its mission to deliver immersive open-air cinema experiences across the country.
Attendees also shared positive feedback, describing the event as memorable and well-organised, further cementing Movie in the Park’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s fast-growing lifestyle entertainment platforms.
