NAFDAC Alert Linked to Foreign Product: Indomie Nigeria Says ‘Vegetable Flavour’ Noodles Are Not Sold Locally

Indomie Nigeria has moved swiftly to reassure consumers following a safety alert issued by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) over the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles, clarifying that the product in question is not manufactured, imported, distributed, or sold in Nigeria.

In a statement obtained by NewsHeadline247, the company stressed that the NAFDAC alert relates exclusively to a foreign product recalled in France and should not be confused with noodles produced locally by Dufil Prima Foods Plc.

“The product referenced in the NAFDAC alert is not manufactured, imported, distributed, or sold in Nigeria,” Indomie Nigeria stated.

NAFDAC had earlier issued a public alert, numbered 041/2025, informing Nigerians that the French consumer protection authority, Rappel Conso, had announced a recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs.

According to NAFDAC, the undeclared allergens could pose “a significant health risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances,” prompting the precautionary alert.

While the agency noted that the likelihood of the recalled product entering Nigeria is low—given the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation—it nonetheless urged heightened vigilance to prevent possible illicit circulation. NAFDAC also confirmed that surveillance measures had been activated to block any potential entry of the affected product.

Responding to the alert, Indomie Nigeria clarified that the recall referenced a product withdrawn in France in August 2025, and that the advisory was issued purely as a preventive measure to safeguard the Nigerian public.

“Indomie Nigeria does not produce or market any noodle variant called Vegetable Flavour, and no such product exists within our portfolio,” the company stated.

It further assured consumers that all Indomie noodles produced in Nigeria are safe for consumption, manufactured under strict quality control processes, and fully compliant with NAFDAC regulations.

The company also addressed images circulating online, noting that the packaging associated with the recalled product is inconsistent with Indomie Nigeria’s approved branding, labelling, and packaging standards.

“It is important to note that the importation of noodles into Nigeria is prohibited under Nigerian law. Any product displaying packaging different from Indomie Nigeria’s approved branding should be treated with caution,” the statement added.

Indomie Nigeria urged consumers and media organisations to rely on verified information from official sources and to clearly distinguish between locally manufactured noodles and foreign products, reiterating its commitment to consumer safety and transparency. Read More
