The assistant coach of the D’Tigress, the national female basketball team of Nigeria, Peter Ahmedu has advised the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to draw a comprehensive program mainly to rejuvenate grassroots basketball activities in the country after the COVID-19 pandemic era.
He added that only those who are well prepared for the post-COVID-19 period will meet up with the shift in the development of the world.
Speaking with newsheadline247.com Saturday night, Ahmedu said he believes there will be a lot of changes in sporting programs across the globe following the effects of the rampaging virus, hence, the need for a proper program to revive grassroots basketball activities and also an adequate preparation for the nation’s basketball league.
Ahmedu, a former coach of the First Bank Basketball Club of Lagos, further urged the federation to take advantage of the coronavirus break by drawing an extensive blueprint aimed at redesigning the structure of the national basketball league in order to attract both local and international sponsors.
“I believe there will be inventions after COVID-19, not only in sports but in all sectors and this is why I am asking the basketball federation to put in place an all-inclusive program that should be tailored to revive our basketball at grassroots level for the country to be at the centre stage of global basketball activities at all time when this pandemic period is over,” Ahmedu said.
