The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has raised petrol pump price to N905 per litre following supply disruptions linked to the recent PENGASSAN strike action

NNPC Raises Petrol Price to N905 per Litre Amid PENGASSAN Strike Disruption

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, to ₦905 per litre, up from ₦890, representing a ₦15 or 1.7 per cent upward review.

Confirming the development, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, attributed the price hike to fuel supply disruptions caused by the recent industrial action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

“The supply disruption occasioned by the strike affected distribution. However, our members are dispensing petrol between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre,” Maigandi explained.

Newsheadline247 understands that although the NNPC officially adjusted its pump price to ₦905, many independent marketers still retail petrol between ₦885 and ₦895 per litre, depending on logistics and location.

The recent two-day strike by PENGASSAN disrupted the fuel supply chain across the country, leading to temporary shortages and longer queues at filling stations.

Following the Federal Government’s intervention, the union suspended the strike to allow for negotiations, and normal fuel distribution has gradually resumed.

However, the aftershock of the disruption appears to have triggered price adjustments by the NNPC, increasing the cost burden on motorists and consumers already struggling with rising energy prices. Read More
