Nigerian foremost football club, Shooting Stars of Ibadan on Friday defeated Enyimba fc of Aba 3-2 to emerge champions of the inaugural Nigeria Professional Football League Doxy Super Cup competition.
The Oluyole Warriors also went home with a mouthwatering winners’ prize of N100m.
Enyimba took the lead on six minutes through Fatai Abdulahi.
The lead lasted only seven minutes before Taofeek Malomo restored parity for the Ibadan warlords.
Enyimba however regained the lead through Eze Ekwutoziam on the half hour mark.
The Peoples Elephant maintained the lead until the hour mark.
Their former midfielder, Kelly Kester equalised for 3SC for the second time in the game in the 60th minute.
Anthony Okachi netted the winning goal for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side three minutes from time.
Shooting Stars, formerly IICC, won the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1976, becoming the first Nigerian club side to win an international trophy
The team also won the first edition of CAF Cup, defeating the Nakivubo Villa of Uganda 3–0 in the finals at the Lekan Salami stadium after the first leg ended in a goalless draw.
