The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele has applauded the Court of Appeal ruling which stayed the execution of the judgement of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, recognising the Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe-led South-West zonal executive of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The appellate court sitting in Ado Ekiti also stayed the execution of the judgement restraining Dr. Eddy Olafeso-led South-West Zonal exco of the PDP from functioning.
In a statement signed on behalf of the Chairman of the party in Ogun state, Hon. Sikirulahi Ogundele by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Malik Ibitoye, the victory was described as a triumph of the popular will over political banditry.
Ogundele was quoted to have commended the Eddy Olafeso-led exco for its consistency, perseverance and doggedness, adding that the development has brought a new life into the party in the region.
The statement, which was made available to the media, said further that it is now time for the party to be re-positioned for a better performance, while calling on the different factions in the party to cooperate with the executive to move the party forward.
“The Ogun State PDP is solidly behind Dr Eddy Olafeso and his team. We congratulate the South West executive of our party. This ruling has sent signals to Senator Kasamu Buruji and his supporters that their game is over and should desist from further political rascality.
“We are sure that Eddy Olafeso and his executive members have the capacity to move the party forward and we congratulate them for fighting a good fight as our party is getting ready for its National Convention in Abuja,” the statement read.
Ogundele congratulated all committed and genuine members of the party in the region and the country for their total support for the party.
The politician maintained that the PDP is poised for victory as the 2019 general elections draw nearer, while alluding to the recent movement of top politicians in the country into the party.
Ogundele, however, enjoined Olafeso and his executive members not to relent in their efforts of putting right all the wrongs in the party.
The statement reads in part; “We are happy to be part of this victory. What we need now is to re-strategise so that the PDP can achieve victory in the coming elections for the entire South West.
“We are not surprised by this ruling because we knew all along that the exco is the legitimate one as against others that want to force themselves on the people.”
