Revenue Generation: Ogun State Unveils 2025 Road Tax Stickers
This initiative aims to enhance revenue generation
The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has collaborated with the Joint Tax Board (JTB) to launch the 2025 Single Interstate Road Tax Stickers. This initiative aims to enhance revenue generation, eliminate the need for multiple road stickers, and simplify business operations.
During the OGIRS conference in Abeokuta, the Executive Chairman of OGIRS, Olugbenga Olaleye, emphasized the importance of this annual launch in raising awareness and combating the circulation of counterfeit stickers, a concern that has persisted since 2022.
Olaleye was represented by Hezekiah Sobayo, the Director of Field Operations, who highlighted the significance of collaboration in overcoming challenges.
He stated, “For any initiative, there will be challenges. We are partners in progress, and we must come together to make Ogun State and Nigeria better. We will also work with vendors to address the challenges they face in selling the stickers.”
Olaleye clarified that the JTB is not responsible for collecting revenue but instead coordinates and regulates the tax collection processes. He also mentioned that the 2025 stickers have been designed with improved features to set them apart from previous editions.
The Director of Other Taxes at OGIRS, Oluyomi Dawodu, expressed appreciation for the vendors’ support of the initiative. She pointed out that the collaboration between OGIRS, the State Ministry of Environment, and the 20 local governments in Ogun State has been essential in effectively managing sticker sales. Dawodu urged vendors to ensure that all stickers sold are properly registered for compliance.
Representatives of the vendors, Niyi Adebanjo and Jamiu Bello, praised OGIRS and JTB for this initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to increasing sticker sales revenue. They also urged authorities to address the challenges associated with inter- and intra-state operations. Read More
