Ondo State governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are members of the Unity Forum faction of the ruling party have rejected zoning for the guber poll.
The aspirants insisted that the party’s primary election should be an open contest for all the senatorial districts in the state.
This was made known in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Akure yesterday by nine out of the 10 aspirants in the faction who are jostling to dislodge Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the October 10, 2020 governorship poll.
The aspirants are Bukola Adetula, Chief Olusola Oke, IfeOluwa Oyedele, Jumoke Anifowose, Olayide Adelani, Dapo Adelegan, Akin Awodeyi, Alhaji Olanrewaju Kazeem and Mr. Jimi Odimayo.
This is coming after one of the APC aspirants, Dr Olusegun Abraham has allegedly sponsored a recent publication which declared that the governorship ticket had been zoned to the North Senatorial District of the state.
Abraham is also a member of the Unity Forum faction of the ruling party in the state.
