The Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Wasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, on Tuesday hosted eminent personalities from different parts of the country as he held the 8th-day Firdaus prayer for his late mother, Olori Muinat Lawal-Akapo.
Firdaus prayer session is the special prayer by Muslims for deposed loved ones according to the injunction of the Islamic religion.
Respected dignitaries from all walks of life thronged the Oniru palace in multitude to grace the prayer session for the late mother of the billionaire monarch in Lagos.
Oba Lawal’s mother, Olori Lawal-Akapo, passed on last week at 85 and was buried according to Islamic rites.
Top Muslim clerics coordinated the event which started at about 4:30 pm right inside the premises of the multi-million naira palace.

Among several monarchs from Lagos and other parts of South-West Nigeria who honoured Oba Lawal’s invitations are glitzy Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikateland, the Ojora of Ijora, Oba Fatai Aromire, the Onisabe of Igbobi-Sabe, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi and Fatai Akamo, the Onitori of Itori from Ogun State.
Notable among the who is who at the well-attended event include billionaire industrialist Aare Rasak Akanni Okoya and wife Shade, business mogul, Samuel Adedoyin, Lagos Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, the State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Mudashiru Obasa, former Reps member, Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon and the Chairman of Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area of Lagos, Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu.
Also at the rich and powerful studded event were several members of the State House of Assembly, top government functionaries, political bigwigs, famous business and society people.
