Troops Arrest Boko Haram Drug Supplier With Army Camouflage, Hard Drugs Worth Millions

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have arrested a suspected major drug courier who allegedly supplies illicit substances to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists operating across Borno and Adamawa States.

The suspect, 45-year-old Zubairu Muhammad, was apprehended around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday by soldiers of the 232 Battalion (Tactical), Uba, in Adamawa State.

Security sources told PRNigeria that Muhammad is believed to be a key supplier of cannabis sativa and crystal methamphetamine (ICE) to terrorist factions through strategic corridors in Askira-Uba, Chibok, Michika and Damboa.

During the interception, troops recovered, 14 blocks of cannabis sativa valued at over ₦1 million, 43 grams of crystal meth (ICE) worth more than ₦3 million and Two Nigerian Army camouflage T-shirts, which the suspect allegedly used to disguise himself while transporting drugs to insurgents.

According to military sources, Muhammad’s use of camouflage clothing was part of a deliberate effort to evade security checks and aid uninterrupted supply to terrorist enclaves.

Preliminary investigations have been completed, and the seized exhibits are expected to be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yola Command, for further action.

The arrest marks another significant breakthrough in ongoing counterterrorism operations targeting the logistics networks that sustain Boko Haram and ISWAP activities in the North-East. Read More
