Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the Oyo State Security Network Agency Bill, 2020 codenamed “Operation Amotekun” into law with the session starting with clause by clause consideration of the bill before its eventual third reading, final adoption and passage.
The lawmakers however added mild drama to the process by appearing in ‘Amotekun” (leopard) regalia – A scene which obviously depicts absolute combat readiness and commitment to the exercise.
The moment the Speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin, hit the gavel passing the bill into law, the lawmakers, wearing armlets and traditional armbands to compliment the appearance on the floor of the house, roared like combat-ready leopards chorusing local hunters’ chants and songs in jubilation of a completed process.
