Police Arrests Teenager As Others Flee in Anambra Robbery Incident

During questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement in the gang’s activities and revealed the location of an AK47 rifle

The Anambra State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, successfully arresting a notorious 18-year-old suspect and recovering a firearm.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement made available to the media.

Ikenga narrated that, on December 6, 2024, at approximately 2:30 PM, police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu apprehended 18-year-old Miracle Mwakalor from Umubele village, located within the Awka-South Local Government Area.

Acting on reliable information, the operatives disrupted a meeting of a criminal gang as they plotted to execute a series of violent acts in Nibo, Awka South. While Mwakalor was taken into custody, several other gang members managed to evade capture.

During questioning, the suspect admitted his involvement in the gang’s activities and revealed the location of an AK47 rifle, which was hidden in the roof of an apartment in Ubuofu Awka.

Law enforcement efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining members of the gang.

In a related development, the police command has recovered several vehicles linked to criminal activities in the state. The recovered vehicles include a red Toyota Corolla, an unregistered ash-colored Lexus ES 350, a blue Mitsubishi Hilux, an ash-colored Lexus ES 330, and a grey Toyota Highlander.

The Anambra State Police Command is urging anyone who believes they may be the owner of one of these vehicles to visit the Police Public Relations Office in Awka, armed with valid proof of ownership for verification and potential retrieval.
