Police Reforms: DCP Ahmed Lateef Appointed as PSO, New Commissioners Assigned to Oyo, Enugu

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has approved the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ahmed Lateef as the new Principal Staff Officer (PSO),

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced this in a statement seen by newsheadline247.

According to the statement, DCP Ahmed Lateef brings extensive experience and a proven track record of leadership within the Nigeria Police Force to this position.

Before his current appointment, DCP Ahmed served as the Police Operations and Forensic Personnel Unit (FPU) Coordinator for the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). He was also the Personal Assistant to former IGP Mohammed D. Abubakar and served as a Zonal Head of Operations and lead cybercrime investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), having completed various training courses both domestically and internationally.

In furtherance to the ongoing reforms in the force, the Inspector-General of Police, with the approval of the Police Service Commission, also appointed CP Johnson Adenola as the new Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command.

CP Adenola previously served diligently as the PSO to the IGP, significantly contributing to the effective operation of the IGP’s office and the overall administration of the Force.

Similarly, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa has also been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Enugu State, following the promotion of AIG Uzuegbu Kanayo.

CP Mamman previously held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Police Mobile Force (PMF) at Force Headquarters and Deputy Commissioner of Operations at Kaduna State Command.
