Political hacks are at work again. They foolishly insist on Throwing Stones from a Glasshouse. Why?
Their attempt to dirty Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with old, investigated, concluded and closed “for no case” narcotic dealing is not only a waste of time, insult to Nigerians, but also brings to fore, and lays bare for Nigerians to see, the lack of substance and focus in their campaigns.
Those of us that lived fulltime in Chicago Illinois during, and at the time of these accusations, on Tinubu cannot remember any such stories in the news.
None of the Chicago based national daily newspapers: The Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune, nor the local community newspapers, such as Indigo and the Chicago Defender, carried such news.
In addition, the electronic media outlets did not carry such news.
These include the over one dozen local Radio Stations, including the “24-hour All News” stations, and the several TV stations in Chicago.
Finally, those years were the time when the “War on Drugs and Say No to Drugs” campaigns in the United States were at their peak. Everybody, anybody were suspects. The Nigerian community in Chicago and environs was very close and united then. News and rumors travelled very fast amongst us because in our colorful, exuberant and loud dispositions, Nigeria and Nigerians seemed to be under special and intense scrutiny by national, state and local law enforcement agencies then.
If these, official and unofficial, news agencies and outlets had no such news, then, there was no such news to be had.
During the period in discussion, I was Director of Criminal Justice Services at the Human Resources Development Institute, Inc. (HRDI)
In my work then, I interfaced with courts, lawyers, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies; including those that managed jails and prisons.
In my position, I would definitely have come across a “Bola Ahmed Tinubu drug related case, arrest, court appearances, prosecution, and what have you”. There was no such experience.
This is election period in Nigeria.
Campaigns, especially those that are in water, and sinking very fast, put out false and propaganda narratives to help them drive the conversations in the election.
Therefore, the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign must not allow itself to be suckered into such trap.
His Excellency Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself, once said that he is “contesting the election to take him to Aso Villa”
That goal alone; should, and must, be the concern of the Campaign and of APC.
Let those campaigns that have no real agenda, manifesto, that have questionable and subpar track record; and those that only want to sectionalize their presidency, and those campaigns whose only mantra is sexing up and glamorizing poverty in Nigeria, let them play at those low levels.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is bigger and better than that. He has well articulated vision, mission, capacity, intellect and willingness for Renewed Hope in Nigeria.
His progressive narrative, that is geared towards taking Nigeria from consumption and waste; to production, efficiency, and prosperity, cannot be stopped.
Nigerians are ready for it.
The time is now.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is Coming.
