The Police Service Commission (PSC), working with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has opened the recruitment portal for the enlistment of 50,000 police constables, kick-starting one of the country’s largest security manpower expansions in recent history.

The move follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who approved the massive recruitment to strengthen community policing, bolster internal security and reposition the police for improved nationwide operations. The PSC said the process will be transparent, merit-driven and open only to qualified Nigerians.

According to the Commission, the application portal — www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng — will be active from Monday, December 15, 2025, until Sunday, January 25, 2026, during which candidates are expected to complete and submit their forms online. The portal will also host full guidelines, requirements and updates on the exercise.

For the General Duty cadre, applicants must possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualifications with a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. They must be Nigerians by birth, between 18 and 25 years, medically and physically fit, and not shorter than 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women.

For the Specialists cadre, applicants must have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings, alongside a minimum of three years of relevant experience and required Trade Tests. Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age.

It added that all legitimate information will be shared only through the official recruitment website and the verified platforms of both the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commission urged qualified and service-driven Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the exercise marks a critical step in rebuilding public trust and expanding the nation’s policing capacity.
