The Police Service Commission (PSC) has taken a decisive step toward recruiting 50,000 new police officers, holding a high-level stakeholders meeting in Abuja to design a transparent, technology-driven and gender-inclusive recruitment process.
The strategic session brought together key players, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Federal Character Commission, all united in ensuring that the upcoming mass recruitment strictly upholds fairness, merit, national balance, and public trust.
The development was announced in a statement by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol & Public Affairs, Office of the Chairman, PSC, and made available to newsheadline247.
Representing the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, DIG (Dr.) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), fdc, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to a fully transparent and inclusive recruitment exercise.
He emphasised that the goal is to build a stronger, more diverse Nigeria Police Force reflective of the country’s values.
“We remain committed to an open and inclusive process that will strengthen the capacity and diversity of the Nigeria Police Force,” DIG Lakanu assured.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya, who led his ministry’s delegation, expressed confidence in the collaboration, noting that effective synergy will ensure the success of the recruitment.
Key Resolutions of the Stakeholders Meeting
The meeting produced strong commitments aimed at guaranteeing credibility and national balance in the recruitment of the 50,000 officers:
- Strict adherence to Federal Character principles to ensure equal representation across all states and geopolitical zones.
