The Police Service Commission has promoted 775 police officers nationwide after written exams and interviews, including the elevation of Mohammed Gumel to Deputy Inspector-General of Police

PSC Promotes 775 Police Officers, Names New DIG, AIGs After Rigorous Exams
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 775 officers of the Nigeria Police Force to various senior ranks following what it described as rigorous written examinations and oral interviews.
The commission disclosed this in a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Thursday evening.
Among the top promotions is Mohammed Gumel, who was elevated to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG). Until his promotion, Gumel served as an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) in charge of the Community Policing Project (CPP) Department, Research and Planning.
The PSC also promoted seven Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG). They include Ihebom Chukwuma of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, and Maxwell Olatokunbo, head of the K9 Unit.
The K9 (Canine) Unit is responsible for deploying trained police dogs and handlers to detect explosives, narcotics, and other security threats.
Other officers promoted to AIG are Abaniwonda Olufemi, Alonyenu Francis Idu, Lawal Ayodeji of the Lagos FCID Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Agene Emmanuel of FCID Kaduna, and Vungmoh Kwaimo.
In addition, 13 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP). Those promoted include Babalola Johnson, Ali Fage, Cyril Obiozo, Adepegba Adetoye, Ofem Arikpo, Edwin Ogbeghagha, Audu Bosso, Samuel Gimba, Alhaji Danladi, Richard Gara, Lasisi Titilola, and John Obiuagbaka.
The commission further announced that 30 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs)—including Muhammad Diggi, Udu Ogechi, Afolaogun Toyin, Abdullahi Dahiru, Hassan Aliyu, Alex Ebbah, and Ajasa Hakeem—were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Also, 51 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Among them are Davidson Ndubueze, Muktari Bello, and Obediah Okezie.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, PSC Chairman, Hashimu Argungu, urged them to live up to the responsibilities of their new ranks.
He reminded them that promotions come with higher expectations and called on the officers to “rededicate themselves to effective policing,” stressing the importance of protecting lives and property and ensuring the “maintenance of law and order.” Read More
