Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev met with representatives of former U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida, according to Russian state news agency TASS, citing sources close to the negotiations.
Dmitriev, who serves as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for economic cooperation with foreign countries, has played a key role in ongoing efforts to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
Reports indicate that Dmitriev has developed a strong working relationship with Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, over the past few months. The United States continues to position itself as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine talks.
The Florida meeting follows several recent discussions in the Middle East currently destabilized by the war in Iran—and a prior negotiation in Switzerland, highlighting ongoing international efforts to find a resolution.
