A source, who confirmed Taiwo’s arrest to our Correspondent, said that community leaders have raised eye brow at the suspicious manner in which he and his partner have been conducting themselves in the community and upon querying further, they discovered that a ‘love affair’ was going on between the duo. The case was later reported at the Alakuko Police station sometimes in 2022 and Police have reportedly been on their radar since then.

“We have been witnessing such an ‘unholy act among the guys in our community, most especially, that of Taiwo and his partner. Each time they walk past in the community, they make it obvious that they share intimacy in a way exactly the same as that of opposite sex. Thank God the Police have waded in. This will serve as deterrent to others who engage in such an unholy act”.

newsheadline247 understands that a source inside the Police confirmed the arrest of Taiwo Olalekan at his residence on Friday after a tip off.

“Taiwo was arrested in his house at Old Ota road when we got an information of his whereabouts. This was a follow up to a report made by community leaders sometimes last year. We have since put the two of them and others suspects on our watch-list”.

Taiwo, however, confessed to the Police that he is gay and that he has shared intimacy with Nurudeen for over 5 years.

“Upon interrogation, he confirmed to us that he is ‘gay’ and that he has been in same sex union with his accomplice since 2018. He has since been helping the Police in nabbing Nurudeen, who we understand has left the country even before Taiwo was arrested”.

The Police, in their bid to arrest Fajimi Nurudeen on Saturday, 19thAugust, proved abortive as he has not returned to his house at No 2, Olusesan Ogunro street in Egbeda, Lagos. “We went to his house to arrest him but his wife confirmed that he has left Nigeria to Paris, France since the 15th of July, 2023.

When VOA News Correspondent contacted Nurudeen’s wife if she was aware that her husband’s illicit sexual act with a man, she insisted her husband was a responsible man and that he could not have done a thing like that, but when furnished with verifiable evidences, she agreed to probe further and unravel the truth.

Meanwhile, information available to VOA News as at press time has it that Nurudeen owned up to his wife about committing the crime.

Our Correspondent reliably gathered that Police are still on the radar of Fajimi Nurudeen for alleged public display of same sex relationship with Taiwo, an act punishable under the Nigerian criminal law and if found guilty, could possibly face up to 10 to 14 years behind bars.

Recall that in 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the same-sex marriage prohibition bill, forbidding marriage, same-sex cohabitation and any “public show of same-sex amorous relationship.
