The Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has met with the Finland Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Leena Pylvänäinen, in a bid to enhance the existing relationship between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Finland.

Daniel, who was a former Governor of Ogun State, has just been re-elected as the President of the Nigerian-Finnish Association.

He was returned for another term of two years with an overwhelming support and endorsement of members of the association in Lagos on Monday.

During a courtesy visit to the ambassador on Tuesday, Senator Daniel discussed areas of mutual interests and cooperation with her.

Finland has been rated as having one of the best education systems in the world and Daniel, as member of the Senate Committees on Basic Education as well as Tertiary Education, deliberated with the diplomat on how Nigeria could benefit from the Finnish system.

As Chairman of Senate Committee on Navy, Daniel’s meeting with the ambassador also explored possible areas of cooperation and collaboration towards developing the Nigerian maritime sector and marine economy.

Recall that Daniel’s company, Kresta Laurel Limited, has been a major distributor for Kone elevators of Helsinki, Finland for the past 30 years.
