Nigerian star Simi shares raw details on how sickness, nausea, fatigue, and pregnancy stalled the release of her long-awaited collab “Where You Dey” with Chike

Simi Gets Real: “I Was Sick, Weak, Nauseous & Tired” – Pregnancy & Health Struggles Held Back “Where You Dey” ft. Chike

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Simi (Simisola Kosoko) has finally pulled back the curtain on the personal and physical battles that pushed back the release of her highly anticipated single “Where You Dey” featuring fellow star Chike.

In an emotional and transparent post shared on her X page on Friday, January 23, 2026, Simi explained that she had planned to drop the track last year after teasing fans with a snippet that quickly went viral and built massive excitement.

But life had other plans.

“I was sick and weak and nauseous and tired, and my body just wouldn’t do what I wanted it to,” she wrote, revealing that even during the shoot for the snippet video, she was already unwell but forced herself to push through and give her all.

Simi showered praise on Chike, calling him the ideal collaborator from the start due to her long admiration for his unique voice and professionalism. When he returned from an out-of-town trip, he headed straight to her studio—completely unaware that Simi was pregnant and battling serious physical challenges at the time.

Looking back, the singer admitted she still marvels at the energy she summoned during those recording sessions. “I’m still surprised by how much energy I had in that video,” she reflected.

Due to the circumstances, Simi took on the mixing and mastering of the track herself—even though she openly dislikes mastering. “I hate mastering, so I don’t know what I was thinking,” she quipped.

She expressed genuine disappointment at missing her original release timeline, especially knowing how deeply fans had connected with the snippet and were eagerly waiting for the full drop. The health issues left her without the strength to promote the song properly or even fully recall parts of the creative process.

In a direct response to years of online speculation and criticism, Simi made it clear that the release of “Where You Dey” also serves as powerful proof that she has not abandoned her music career for marriage or family life.

The heartfelt revelation has resonated widely with fans, who have flooded her comments with support, celebrating both the song’s eventual arrival and Simi’s resilience through a tough personal chapter.

“Where You Dey” ft. Chike is now available on all major streaming platforms, marking a triumphant return and a fresh reminder of Simi’s artistry, vulnerability, and unwavering dedication to her craft. Read More
