Singer Portable Arrested in Kwara Over Alleged Defamation, Threats Against Saheed Osupa
Ilorin, April 13, 2025 – Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, was arrested by the Kwara State Police Command on Saturday following allegations of criminal defamation and other offenses against fellow musician Saheed Okunola, aka Osupa.
The arrest stems from a petition filed by Osupa, accusing Portable of serious offenses, including defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and using abusive language.
The Kwara Police, acting on a warrant issued by a Magistrate Court in Ilorin, apprehended Portable in Abeokuta, Ogun State at approximately 7:25 p.m. He was promptly brought to Ilorin for questioning.
According to SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer, Portable’s statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.
He remains in custody as authorities prepare to charge him in court.
