Six men suspected to be robbers have been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Igbosere for allegedly breaking into the home of a serving judge in Lagos State, Justice Mariam Emeya, and reportedly stealing jewellery said to worth N30m.
According to a report by the PUNCH NG, the defendants, Mujaudu Alawiye, 59; Achrigbo Sunday, 20; Emmanuel Frank, 23; Akintunde Jude, 28; Adeniji Bashir, 18; and Boniface Nneji, 52, were arraigned on four counts bordering on conspiracy, breaking and entering, and stealing.
The defendants had on May 28, 2019, around 12am, allegedly broke into the judge’s home in Chevron, Ajah.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Edward Abiodun, the defendants stole four sets of gold bangles, one set of small bangle, one big gold chain, one small gold chain, four gold rings, three sets of gold jewellery, four sets of gold earrings, four sets of gold pendants, two gold hand chains, a gold chain with big blue precious stone and a big gold chain, all worth N30m.

He added that the offences were punishable under sections 411, 307 (a) (c) and 287 (5) (f) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The newspaper in the report stated that the presiding magistrate, O. O. Oshin, admitted the first and sixth defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each, while the second, third, fourth and fifth defendants were admitted to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She said the addresses of the sureties must be verified and adjourned the case till July 3 for mention.
