“This is a landmark achievement and a defining moment in our collective quest for regional development. The signing of the SWDC Bill into law signifies a new dawn of prosperity for the South-West, ensuring the region receives the necessary support for industrialization and infrastructure development,” Daniel stated.

On Monday, President Tinubu signed three key bills into law: the South-West Development Commission Bill, the South-South Development Commission Bill, and the Nigeria Anti-Doping Bill, 2025.

This move is seen as a milestone in the administration’s efforts to promote regional development and uphold integrity in sports, as announced in a statement by Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.

Otunba Daniel emphasized the importance of this development in fostering balanced and inclusive growth across Nigeria, stating, “With this bold step, the President has reaffirmed his commitment to regional development. The South-West, a hub of innovation and enterprise, will benefit immensely from the interventions of this commission.”

The South-West Development Commission is expected to drive industrialization, enhance infrastructure, and create employment opportunities in the region. This follows the earlier establishment of the South-East Development Commission, highlighting the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring that all regions receive equitable attention in their developmental needs.

“The journey to this point was not easy, but our collective perseverance has paid off. This commission will act as a catalyst for economic prosperity, empowering our people and positioning the South-West as a major driver of national progress,” Otunba Daniel concluded.

The signing of the bill has been widely welcomed across the South-West, with many stakeholders hailing it as a game-changer for economic development and regional empowerment. Read More
