Thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) believed to be adherents of former Kano State Governor, Senator Musa Kwankwaso have reportedly defected to the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
Reports stated that the former Kano State governor led his defecting supporters to the leaders of the Rivers state chapter of PDP.
Senator Kwankwaso handed them over to the Chairman of PDP in Rivers, Bro. Felix Obuah at a ceremony held at the party’s Secretariat along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.
He described his group as a grassroots movement which cut across all the units, wards, local government and states in the country.
Senator Kwankwaso, also believed to be one of the key presidential aspirants of the PDP said the Kwankwasiya Nigeria movement began intensive registration of members nationwide in 2016, adding that their online registration was almost 300,000.
He, however, urged his followers to ensure they beat the INEC voters’ registration deadline so as to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards.
“It is not enough to have your Kwankwasiya Nigeria identity card, ensure to have your PVC because without that in place, all this struggle to boot out this bad government would be in vain”, he said.
Obuah in his remarks thanked the decampees for their decision to join the PDP.
“Now that you have joined our leader back to his home, I assure you will get all the respect and privileges due you,” Obuah said.
