Tinubu’s 74th Birthday: Sultan, Emirs Lead Special Prayers at Abuja National Mosque

ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked his 74th birthday on Sunday with solemn prayers at the National Mosque Abuja, as top traditional rulers and Islamic scholars gathered to seek divine guidance for his leadership.

The prayer session was led by the Sultan of Sokoto, represented by the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, alongside a host of eminent emirs, clerics, and political leaders from across the country.

President Tinubu arrived at the mosque shortly after 3:00 p.m., joining hundreds of worshippers for the special prayers before observing the Asr prayer and departing quietly.

Describing the gathering, the Etsu Nupe stressed that it was “a solemn spiritual exercise rather than a celebration,” underscoring the importance of continuous prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress.

The event drew a powerful mix of governors, ministers, lawmakers, and citizens, all united in prayers for the President’s wisdom, strength, and good health as he navigates the nation through economic and political challenges.

In his remarks, the Emir of Keffi, Chindo Yamusa, commended Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, noting that interventions in salary support and infrastructure were already making an impact, particularly in Nasarawa State.

A remarkable highlight of the session was the recitation of the complete Holy Qur’an 111 times by over 300 Islamic scholars, accompanied by special supplications for Nigeria’s stability and prosperity.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin expressed deep appreciation to religious leaders and attendees for their prayers and solidarity.

He reaffirmed that the President remains committed to national unity and development, adding that continued spiritual support is vital for the administration’s success.

The prayers concluded with Professor Imam Ibrahim Maqari offering final supplications for lasting peace and prosperity across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a parallel prayer session organised by the Arewa Think Tank took place in Kaduna, further amplifying nationwide support for the President.

Dignitaries at the Kaduna event included former Kaduna State Governor Muktar Ramallan Yero and Senator Tijjani Kaura Tafida, who represented Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

Also present were the Emir of Wase, Mohammed Haruna, representatives of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Kebbi State Governor Nasiru Karan Gwandu, and labour leader Issa Aremu.

The coordinated prayer gatherings reflected a strong show of religious and political unity, as leaders across regions rallied spiritual support for Tinubu’s leadership and Nigeria’s future.
