President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has nominated Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi state, as one of his representatives on the presidential transition council (PCT).
Tinubu also nominated Olawale Edun, a board member of the ministry of finance incorporated (MOFI).
Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) and chairman of the council, said the nominees of Tinubu have since joined the “transition process”.
“The presidential transition council which was inaugurated on February 24 is made up of 24 members which include two persons from the president-elect’s team,” NAN quoted him as saying.
“After the declaration of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the president-elect, the PTC requested him to nominate his representatives on the council as provided in the executive order.
“The president-elect nominated His Excellency, Atiku Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi state, and chief Olawale Edun both of whom have since joined the process actively.”
The SGF said the council is working to ensure that the transition process is smooth.
“The transition process is on course and all efforts are being made to ensure that it is smooth and on May 29, there will be a peaceful, formal transfer of power to the new president-elect,” Mustapha said.
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to formally hand over power to Tinubu on May 29.
