President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and education, unveiling major investments during his 65th Independence anniversary address.
Calling Nigerian youths the “greatest assets of this blessed country,” Tinubu said his government is determined to “give them wings to fly sky-high” through education, funding, and innovation.
The President highlighted the achievements of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has already disbursed ₦99.5 billion in loans to over 510,000 students across 228 higher institutions. In addition, upkeep allowances worth ₦44.7 billion have been provided.
Other youth-focused initiatives include:
- Credicorp Loans: ₦30 billion disbursed to 153,000 Nigerians for vehicles, solar energy, digital devices, and home upgrades.
- YouthCred Scheme: Consumer credit now accessible to NYSC members for resettlement.
- iDICE Programme: A multi-billion partnership with AfDB, AFD, and IsDB to support Nigerian innovators in technology and the creative economy.
“Our young people must dream big, innovate, and conquer new territories in science, technology, sports, and the arts. Through policies and funding, we will continue to give you wings to fly,” Tinubu said.
The initiatives, according to him, are part of his Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to give every Nigerian youth, regardless of background, equal access to opportunities for a better future. Read More
