The Akowonjo area of Lagos was transformed into a vibrant centre of worship on Saturday night as celebrated gospel singer Tope Alabi led thousands in a spiritually charged praise session at the ongoing Akowonjo for Christ Crusade.

Held at the Pertinence Group premises in Egbeda, the open-air gathering drew a massive crowd, all immersed in an atmosphere of deep worship and reflection. As Alabi delivered a series of soul-stirring songs, attendees responded with singing, dancing, and visible expressions of joy.

During her ministration, the gospel artiste delivered a strong message on the essence of salvation, urging worshippers to fully commit their lives to Christ.
“Worship without accepting Christ is meaningless. You must surrender your life to Him for your worship to have value,” she declared, prompting many to step forward during the altar call.

The crusade, organised by The Great Commission Christian Network and The Grace Rock Church, also featured impactful teachings from prominent clerics.

Pastor Funso Popoola of The Grace Rock Church encouraged participants to remain hopeful and expectant of divine intervention. Referencing the biblical story of healing at Bethesda, he reminded the congregation of God’s limitless power.
“You are the one God has come for today,” he said. “There is nothing you seek that God does not have in abundance. This is a place to pray, not to tell stories.”

In a separate sermon, Andy Ikehide, president of The Great Commission Christian Network, led fervent prayers under the theme “Arise, for your light has come.” Drawing from the deliverance of Peter in Acts 12, he urged attendees to seek divine breakthrough.
“What killed others will not kill you. When God opens a door, no man can shut it,” he proclaimed.

The three-day crusade, which began on April 10, will conclude on April 12, 2026, at the Pertinence Group premises located behind NEPA Filling Station, Tinuola Close, Animashaun Bus Stop, Akowonjo.

Beyond spiritual ministrations, the event also featured community outreach initiatives, including free medical services such as blood pressure and malaria checks, alongside the distribution of food items like garri and rice.

Many who responded to the altar call received prayers, marking one of the most significant spiritual moments of the gathering.
