US DHS Targets 79 Nigerians for Deportation in ‘Worst-of-the-Worst’ Immigration Push

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has revealed plans to deport at least 79 Nigerian nationals identified as some of the most serious criminal offenders in the country, part of an intensified crackdown on convicted foreign nationals.

Announced on Monday via the DHS website and ICE operations, the move prioritizes removal of individuals described as the “worst of the worst” criminal aliens—those convicted of grave offenses including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, robbery, manslaughter, and related crimes.

The list of Nigerians slated for deportation includes:

  • Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, Bolarinwa Salau, Oriyomi Aloba.
  • Oludayo Adeagbo, Olaniyi Akintuyi, Talatu Dada, Olatunde Oladinni, Jelili Qudus, Abayomi Daramola, Toluwani Adebakin, Olamide Jolayemi, Isaiah Okere, Benji Macaulay, Joseph Ogbara.
  • And dozens more, such as Olusegun Martins, Kingsley Ariegwe, Olugbenga Abass, Oyewole Balogun, Christian Ogunghide, Chibuzo Nwaonu, and others up to 79 total.

US authorities emphasize that these deportations are central to broader efforts to safeguard public safety by removing non-citizens who pose significant security risks following serious convictions.

The action aligns with renewed immigration enforcement under current leadership, focusing first on high-priority criminal cases amid mass deportation initiatives. Nigeria features prominently on the list, with convictions spanning violent crimes, financial fraud, and narcotics offenses. This development has sparked widespread attention in Nigeria and the diaspora, as ICE continues operations targeting undocumented individuals with egregious criminal histories.
