A powerful windstorm swept through the Nyanya area of Abuja on Tuesday, causing damage to sections of the Kubo Bus Terminal and nearby structures.

The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. According to the statement, the storm, accompanied by heavy rainfall, also affected parts of a pedestrian bridge and a few surrounding buildings.

Despite the intensity of the weather, early reports indicate that no injuries were recorded and no vehicles were damaged.

In response, Wike has directed security agencies to immediately secure the affected area, maintain public order, and ensure the free flow of traffic. He also ordered prompt repair works to address the damage caused by the storm.

Authorities say measures are already being put in place to restore normalcy and prevent disruption in the busy district.
